It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas “Doug”A. Hurley of Port Howe (Born October 24, 1944) on May 29, 2016, at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash. Born in Maccan, he was a son of the late Gus and Hazel Hurley. Doug began his working career in the military where he learned a trade in dental care. This led to him setting up a successful denture business in Sackville, N.B. and Amherst. Surviving is his wife of 34 years, J. Starr (Ripley) Hurley; daughter, Victoria; granddaughter, Cady; stepson, Aaron; brothers, Fred, Jack and Charles; sisters, Midge and Joan; many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Trevor. In keeping with Doug’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in the Maccan Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Palliative Care, The L.A. Animal Shelter or any charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, 204 Water St., Pugwash (902-243-2506).
