It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Alfreda Kendall (nee Janes) of Corner Brook announce her passing on June 5, 2016 at the age of 83, at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home. Shirley will be sadly missed and forever loved by Victor, her devoted husband of 65 years. She leaves to mourn, her brother George Janes (Bridgett) of Glenwood, NL, sisters Una Lewis of Orillia, On, and Bessie Cocarell (Leveson) of Bishop Falls, sisters-in-law, Catherine Alley (Hugh) of St. David's, NL, Juanita Tibbo (William) of Gander, NL, and Margaret Kendall of Dartmouth, NS. As well, she leaves a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Rachiel (Cassie) and Austin Janes, sister Joyce Janes, mother and father-in law Mary and Henry Kendall, and brothers-in-law Donald Kendall and Donald Lewis. A special thank you to her very dear friends and cousins Forrester and Gretta Kendall for many years of love and care. They were pillars of support to Shirley and Victor during her long illness. Much appreciation to the staff of the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home who often went above and beyond. Also, to new friends made throughout the duration of Shirley's stay. Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Tuesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with the Very Rev. Baxter Park officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Alzheimer's Society.
