New Glasgow - Alford Ian Fraser, age 86, of New Glasgow, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 in the QEII Infirmary, Halifax. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John R. and Estelle (Gillies) Fraser.
He was a purchasing agent at Hawker Siddeley for many years. He was a member and Past Master of Albion Lodge No. 5, where he served as Treasurer for over 30 years and received his 50 year jewel; Past District Deputy Grand Master; member 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Halifax; member of Philae Temple, Halifax. He is survived by his wife, Faye (Stewart); daughters: Gail (Chris) Lowe, Saltspring Island, BC; Lynn (Peter) MacDonald, New Glasgow; grandchildren: Brenden (Amanda) MacDonald; Megan MacDonald; Evan (Tiffany) MacDonald; great grandson, Brody; sister-in-law, Claire Scott; brother-in-law, John R. Wayling; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Wayling.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Church Brook Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice. Albion Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 6:30pm Friday to conduct their service.
