Chance Harbour – Jean Ross, age 99, of the Valley View Villa, formerly of Chance Harbour, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 in the Villa. Born in St. Peter’s, Cape Breton, she was the only daughter of the late William R. and Mary Margaret (MacInnes) Ross. Jean was raised in New Glasgow and was retired from the Department of Trade and Industry for the Province of Nova Scotia. Jean wrote a book, Every Customer is My Guest, which was a guideline for hotels and wait staff. Jean wintered for many years in St. Petersburg, Florida, and enjoyed an active social life with the church there. She enjoyed her summers in Chance Harbour where she built and designed her home. Special thanks to her long-time caregivers, Theresa Fitt, Winnie Dykens and other caregivers, Joanne, Heather, Helen, Mary Lou and Muriel. There will be no visitation. Funeral service 11 am Friday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow, with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
