With sadness and a sense of peace for a long life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Helen (Raynes) Speight on June 9, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 93. She was born in Saint John, NB on December 1, 1922 to the late Arthur and Jennie (Clark) Raynes and was the loving wife to her late husband Artie Speight.

Helen was a kind woman who loved to be around family. She was a homemaker and devoted every moment to ensuring her family was happy and healthy and looked after. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she remained very involved in their lives even after they moved out on their own.

She is fondly remembered by her two brothers; Kenneth and Ben Raynes, and sister; Mabel Lawless, all of Saint John, NB, as well as her three grandsons; John (Roxanne), David and Kevin (Mary) Raynes, and great-grandson; Steven Raynes.

Along with her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her sons John Raynes and Arthur “Butch” Speight, daughter Jane Edwards, and siblings; Barbara, Muriel, Rena, Mae, Harry, Ralph and Everett.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424), with visitation held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 13, at 2pm with interment to follow in Loyalist Cemetery in Harding’s Point.
