It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ross Frederick Smith announce his passing on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Health Science Centre in St. John's at the age of 80 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Tony (Cindy) Smith, Summerside, Wanda Smith, Summerside and Joanne Earl, Deer Lake; his loving companion Mame Childs, Corner Brook; son-in-law Tim Gash, Curling; grandchildren: Jordan (Crystal), Gregory (Chrissy), Christa, Deon (Michelle) and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Zachary, Kennedy, Caleb and Grant; sister Evelyn Hutchings (Pat Stacey), Ontario; brother-in-law Gar Fifield, Ontario; home care worker Jocelyn Webster, Summerside; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Stella Smith (nee Hutchings), 2012; daughter Debbie Smith, 2011; son Freddy Smith, 2013; parents Frederick and Winnifred Smith; sisters Joyce Fifield and Mildred (Bert) Rogers. Friends may visit Bethany United Church in Summerside on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Bethany United Church Memorial Fund.
