Douglas Albert (Chub) Nicolle passed away on Saturday June 11, 2016 after a short stay at Extendicare, at the age of 89. Doug was born on the Mapleford Ranch (Nicolle Flats) in the stone house on January 23, 1927. He is predeceased by his parents Douglas and Dorothy, brother Charles, sisters Catherine and Vera; son Douglas in 2013 and his wife Jeannette in 2012; and his in-laws Herman and Cora Boevers. He leaves to mourn his wife Marjorie of 66 years; and brother-in-law Ernest Boevers. Chub grew up at the ranch at Buffalo Pound Lake, and attended Coyote Run School, later called Nicolle School. When his Dad and Mom left the ranch in 1947 and moved to Moose Jaw, Chub took over the ranch. He married Marjorie Boevers on October 27, 1949. Chub volunteered at Agribition in Regina for 23 years, judged many horse shows, and was a member of the South Sask. Horse Pull Club. He won heavy weight champion in 1982. Chub was a long time member of the South Sask. Roping and Riding Club. He pride and joy were his horses Ted and Slim and they won many trophies at fairs and horse shows all over Sask. Chub moved to Moose Jaw in 1996 and made many friends on Currie and Duffield Crescent. A Memorial Celebration will be held at St.Andrew’s United Church Social Hall on Friday June 17, 2016 from 1:30 – 4:00 pm. At 2:00 pm, Linda Owens will reflect and share stories of Chub’s life. Following Cremation, interment will take at St. Columba Cemetery at a later date. In living memory of Chub, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
