Thorne, Donna Gail

Donna Thorne of Jemseg, wife of Neil Thorne, passed away with family by her side at Hospice Fredericton on June 14th, 2016. Born in White’s Cove, NB on February 13th, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Wagstaff) Gardiner.

Donna graduated from Cambridge-Narrows High School in 1966 and then Business College in Fredericton in 1967. She worked in various departments of the provincial government and was either secretary or treasurer for many businesses or organizations such as the Jemseg Volunteer Fire Department, the Jemseg Cemetery Ltd and Neil Thorne Trucking Ltd. She loved beachcoming, especially on her trips to Florida, and will always be remembered for her infectious smile and for being such an amazing and loving mother, grammie, sister and friend.

She is survived by her loving husband, Neil; her children, Rob Thorne (Lisa) and Kim Thorne, both of Jemseg; her precious grandsons whom she adored, Trent and Tanner; her sisters, Brenda Norwood (Ralph) of Jemseg, and Valerie Hughes of Fredericton; bothers-in-law, Huxley Warren of Upper Gagetown, Lee Thorne (Wendy) of Hampton and sister-in-law, Louise Austin of White’s Cove as well as several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret; her sister, Jean Warren; her infant brother, David and her brothers-in-law, Charles Hughes and Percy Austin and parents-in-law, Earl and Ella Thorne.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Jemseg Baptist Church on Friday, June 17th at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Jemseg Cemetery following the service.
