Virginia Chandler

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Virginia (Ginger) Janet Chandler, age 75, of Amherst announce her passing on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Rooney) Chandler.
Ginger worked as an Executive Secretary for the Saint John Shipbuilding and Enamel Heating in Amherst and was the recording secretary for the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #10, Amherst. She also was employed with Canadian Hadassah-Wizo in Montreal.
She volunteered locally for the VON office in Amherst as well as the Amherst Food Assistance Network and IODE.
Ginger was a member of Christ Church, Amherst.
Ginger is survived by her three children, Vincent (Jane) Landry of Barrie, ON, Cheryl Landry (Richard) of Moncton, NB and Angela Landry of Amherst, grandchildren Tara, Krystal, Jennifer, Jamie and “Little” Vincent, six great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Arthur Landry and her brother Jack Chandler.
A celebration of Ginger’s life will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902-667-9906).
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter or the Cancer Assistance Fund of Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
