She was predeceased by her beloved husband Marcel (1989), grandson Marcel Dudragne (1987), parents Gedeon Croteau and Amanda Boulet; eleven brothers and sisters; as well as numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Rose Alma was born in Debden, SK on October 24, 1922. She moved with her family to Masefield, SK. in 1925. She was united in marriage with the love of her life, Marcel Dudragne on October 8, 1946. Alongside Marcel, they operated the family farm in the Broncho District south of Ponteix, SK. where they raised their family. They retired and moved to Swift Current in late 1979. When she moved to Swift Current, Rose Alma joined and was an active member of the Sacred Heart C.W.L., Ashley Park Ladies Auxiliary, Ashley Park Ladies Birthday Club, ProLife-Swift Current Chapter, and volunteered at the Cypress Regional Hospital. She did Meals-on-Wheels with Marcel until his passing. Whatever she could do, she did, always willing to help anyone in any way she could. She was strong in her Faith and lived her Faith daily by always putting God and all people first. Rose Alma loved children, and especially her grandchildren. They truly were her pride and joy. Rose Alma loved to play Chip Rummy and Skip Bo with anyone who wanted to play a game or five. She had endless patience, and the grandchildren soon learned to play these games with her. Rose Alma loved gardening and she could make anything grow! She filled every available piece of dirt with vegetables and flowers. When Marcel had a little greenhouse built for her, she spent many hours loving nurturing little seeds into bigger plants ready for transplanting. Whether it were her garden plants or her house plants, they flourished under her loving care. She grew the biggest African Violets we have ever seen, we think she had shares in the Schultz Plant Food Company because she went through a lot of it. She loved to sew, she sewed and mended clothes for family and friends. She could look at a picture of an outfit, draw up her own pattern from scratch, and create a beautiful outfit that looked as good if not better than the one in the picture. She also loved to knit, crochet, and do any arts or crafts she saw. She was always busy doing something. Later, when she moved to the Heritage Towers, she took up reading. She was also an amazing cook and made sure everyone was well-fed. There was always a cooked ham or home-canned chicken in the fridge ready to feed anyone who came along. No matter who came to the house at whatever time, there was always a meal set before them and a place to stay for anyone who needed it. In September 2014, Rose Alma moved into the Gull Lake Special Care Centre where she received excellent care until her passing. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rest in Peace our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
