Moshe Granik

GRANIK, MOSHE
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Moshe Granik, loving husband of Cheryl (Wilbur) Granik, which occurred on Friday June 17, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1937 in Lipcani, Moldova, he was the son of the late Joseph and Yentel Granich. Nazi occupation during WWII forced surviving family members to immigrate to a newly founded Israel.

Moshe served with distinction as an officer in the Israeli Army during the 1950's. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 where he completed his Masters of Psychology.

Moshe worked most of his life as the Special Programs Director for the School Board developing educational programs for special needs and gifted children. He also taught Hebrew and history to Jewish children at the Saint John Synagogue for many years. He loved to tend to his garden, but first and foremost he was a devoted family man. Moshe cherished every moment he spent with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Cheryl of 20 years, he is survived by his (step) children Patrick St.Onge and Susan (Doug) Martin, both of Saint John; his sister Tzipora (Zeev) Goshen of Tel Aviv Israel; nephew Jonathan and niece Avigail also of Tel Aviv Israel; cousin Isadore Granich of Montréal and extended family in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. By request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the SPCA Animal Rescue.
