Joyce Marguerite Quinn

Born In: Glace Bay

Passed in: Coxheath
Passed on: June 18th, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Joyce Marguerite Quinn, 73, of Coxheath on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Roderick and Margaret (Monaghan) MacKillop.
Joyce worked for many years after graduation from Holy Angels High School as a bank teller for both CIBC and Scotiabank before becoming a fulltime mother; in later years she was a babysitter.
Joyce enjoyed watching her many stories on television, including her absolute favourite: Coronation Street. She also enjoyed listening to music and singing along to many old but goodies, and she certainly loved to get up and dance at anyone’s anniversary, wedding, or any other good time where she could rock and roll! She was also a true Maritimer who loved her lobster; even in the last few days one of the things she said was “I could eat lobster anytime!” But what she loved most was her family, and she was a feisty and funny wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. As a close family friend put it: What more could we ask for in life but to feel the love of a woman like Joyce?
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, William Harold ‘Harley’ Quinn; her children, Paul (Deborah) Kyte, Parham, Ont., Kelly (Steve) Purcell, Halifax, N.S., Tamara ‘Tammy’ Kyte, Coxheath, N.S. and Lisa Quinn, Vancouver, B.C.; her grandchildren Sabrina, Trevor, Ryan, Devin, Brody, Kyle, Evan, and McKenna; her siblings Helen, Norma, Lorraine and Rodena ‘Deanie,’ as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Clarence Burke.
We would also like to thank the entire staff of 4C at the CBRH, but our most heartfelt thanks go to the nurses who took such good care of her all the times we could not be there.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Joyce’s name.
