Charles Carl Scopie

July 14, 1944 – June 20, 2016
It is with heavy hearts and deep felt sadness that we the family of Charles Scopie age 71, Chuck to some and Bookie to others, are sorry to have to announce his passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Amherst, NS, due to a long battle of illness. Formally of Springhill, NS.
Born in Amherst, NS, he was a son of the late Charles and Irene (Como) Scopie.
Chuck worked for Inco Nickel Mines, Sudbury, ON for 30 years, where he retired from. He moved back to the Joggins area after his retirement.
Chuck loved to hunt and fish. He loved to read, he was an avid reader of James Patterson and Stephen King.
Due to poor health he could no longer hunt and fish. He was a member of the Joggins Legion Branch #4. Where he had enjoyed playing Crib. He also enjoyed playing Crib at the Elm Tree, Amherst, NS.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Beverley (Poplar) and his children LuAnn Belfry (John) Sudbury, ON, Terry Scopie (Shelley) Markham, ON, Cathy Scopie (Greg) Oshawa, ON, Tracy Currie (Dan) Milton, ON, Misty, Sudbury, ON, his two step-children John Rosenberg (Sandra) View Royal, BC, and Kimberly Rosenberg, Whitby, ON; seven grandchildren Britany, Taylor, Christopher, Christen, Kyle, Hailey, Arianna, two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Luke.
Chuck had one sister Margaret Wheaton (Gary) of Lower Cove, NS.
A special thank you to my sister Nancy McKeigan who has been by my side through it all and her husband Hermie McKeigan (who took him to all of his Halifax appointments) Tanya McKeigan-Holland (Niece) for your support and your love. Thank you to Dr. Harrison for the years you looked after Chuck. Thank you also to the Dialysis Team in Springhill, NS and Halifax. A special thank you also to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst NS for the outstanding care provided to Chuck. ~ Bev
In honoring Chucks wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place by Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (902-667-9906).
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sudbury, ON.
Donations may be made in memory of Charles Scopie to the Dialysis and Diabetes Foundations or to a charity of your choice.
