Laurie Arseneault

ARSENEAULT, LAURIE JOSEPH “LARRY”
It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Laurie Joseph “Larry” Arseneault on July 2, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Born in Beaverbank, NB on July 14, 1939, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Zelia (Henry) Arseneault and the loving husband of 58 years to Betty (Grant) Arseneault.
Larry worked as an industrial mechanic at the Irving Oil Refinery for 24 years retiring in 2000 and was a member of and loved going on the bus trips with the Irving Alumni. Larry was a very giving man, and was a proud blood donor until his illness prevented him from donating any longer. He adored camping up at Wally’s in Cambridge Narrows with his family and loved going to sporting events for his grandchildren. He was a family man and enjoyed spending his free time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he took great pleasure in their visits. He was a very special man and his family and friends will miss him very much.
Along with his wife Betty, he is survived by his daughters; Kim Downing (Charlie Sowers) and Lori (Paul) Jeffries, he was “Papa” to Patrick Downing (Kelsie), Curtis Jeffries, Connor Jeffries and Danielle Downing (Michael Baxter), and great-grandson Blake Baxter, as well as his brothers; Gerald (Edie), Ovila (Donna) and Emile (Louise), sisters; MaryAnn Macksymick (Glynn) and Theresa (Art) Alward and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Larry’s family would like to express their utmost gratitude to Carol Whipple with Extra Mural and the staff of Bobby’s Hospice for the care and compassion that they showed to him while under their care. He was treated with grace and dignity and you made this journey that much easier for us because of your care.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice, SPCA Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor’s choice. To sign the guestbook or place an online condolence, please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
