Passed away quietly and peacefully at the Health Science Centre, in the presence of her loving family, Gertrude Catherine Pyne (Tobin), on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 96 years of age. She was born in St. John's on April 18, 1920. Predeceased by her husband Cyril Pyne (1995), her parents Elizabeth (Prowse) and James Tobin; her sisters Isabel, Kathleen Quigley (Herman), Marguerite Bishop (Robert), and brothers Bill Tobin (Bernadette) and Bob Tobin (Kitty). She was the last family member of her generation. She leaves to mourn her children: Janice Pyne O'Brien (Bud), Doug Pyne (Peggy), Ted Pyne (Donna), Barbara English (Ray) and Donna Pyne with whom she resided; her grandchildren - Shirley Walsh (Bernard), Nora Pyne (Quentin Crowley), Cherie Pyne, Jennifer Jenkins (Lee), Christopher Pyne (Hannah Munro), Andrew Pyne, Matthew Pyne (Sasha), Barry Pyne, Krista English (Lance Rettinger), Jason English (Nicole); her great-grandchildren - Dana Walsh, Monique Walsh, Findley Crowley, Brendan Jenkins, Olivia Jenkins, Zara Pyne, Lucas English. She also leaves to mourn her good friend of many, many years, Maude English, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. She will be resting at Caul's Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road, St. John's with visitation on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Paul's Church on Newfoundland Drive at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road.
