The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Stewart Memorial Home in Tyne Valley on Friday, July 8, 2016, of Olive Pearl Sophia (Wood) Grigg of Springhill, aged 97 years, wife of 59 years to the late Lorne Grigg. Born on Wednesday, July 31, 1918, in West Devon, daughter of the late James Wood and Mary-Ellen (Chisholm) Wood. Loving mother to Gwendolyn (Walter) Ladd of Moncton N.B.; Elwell (Muriel) of Tyne Valley; Ivers (Lorraine) of Springhill; Sandra (Ivan) Baglole of Summerside; Gaylene (Claude) Robinson of Conway; Barry Grigg of Springhill and daughter-in-law Janice Grigg of Mount Pleasant. Beloved grandmother to 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great- grandchildren. Olive is also survived by sister Dorothy Rodgerson of Unionvale and sister-in-law Masie Wood of O'Leary, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Olive was predeceased by her parents James Wood and Mary-Ellen (Chisholm) Wood, husband of 59 years Lorne Grigg, sons Darrell (in infancy) and Billy, daughter Lorna (and son-in-law Herman) Yeo, grandchildren Sandra, Kevin, Karen, Kimberly, Kelli, Troy, Travis and Tyler, sisters Muriel MacNaught, Priscilla Pierce and Beulah Baker, brothers Ivers Wood and Al Wood, sisters-in- law Jennie Wood, May Dyment, Olive Milligan, Helen Rodd, Binie Stewart, Greta Grigg and Frances Grigg-Partridge, brothers-in-law Bruce MacNaught, Elwell Pierce, Lou Baker, Fred Rodgerson, Fulton Dyment, Bowman Milligan, Cyril Rodd, Cecil Stewart, Graydon Grigg and John Grigg, as well as her and Lorne' s life-long best friends May and Charlie Frost. Resting at the Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel with the funeral to be held on Monday, July 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Victoria West United Church. Interment to immediately follow in the Bideford United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers in memory of Olive, memorials to the Victoria West United Church or the Stewart Memorial Donation Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In keeping with Olive’s wishes, the funeral will be held at the Victoria West United Church. Seating will be limited and mostly immediate family. However, the family would like to invite friends to the reception at the Tyne Valley Fire Hall after the burial.
