Elsie Mary VanSnick

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Mary VanSnick age 83 of Amherst on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Minto, NB, Elsie was a daughter of the late Louie and Rita (Gallant) Gautreau.
Elsie was an avid bingo and cribbage player and loved baseball as well as hockey.
She enjoyed singing and was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church choir as well as the Glory Land Singers.
The greatest joy in life for Elsie was spending time with her family; truly her greatest legacy was her children, and grandchildren.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sandra Vance (Ray), Amherst; five sons, Keith, Joggins, Gerald (Debbie), Wade (Marcy), and Richard (Karen) all of Amherst and Michael (Julie), Lower Maccan; sisters, Jean Murphy, Irene (Fred) Hebert both of Joggins, Betty O’Regan and Lenore McEachern both of Amherst; brother, Benny (Marilyn), Amherst; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her sisters, Alice LeBlanc, Clara St. Peters and Vila Murphy; brother, Ernie; three brothers in infancy; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Keith Jr.; son in law, Gordon Vance.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 6-9 pm with parish prayers at 8:30 pm at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 667-9906. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins with Father Keith Billard officiating. Reception to follow. Elsie will be laid to rest in the Ragged Reef Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Elsie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice.
