We, the family of Gladys Evelyn MacKenzie, regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born July 14, 1935, in Sydney, Gladys was a daughter of the late John and Mary Jane (MacPhee) Lively.
She was a member of the former St. Alphonsus Church, South Bar and before retirement, was employed at MacLeod’s Bookstore, Sydney.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Joe; daughter, Joanne LeBlanc (Bill), Dartmouth; son, Kenneth (Debbie), South Bar; sister, Phyllis Sudds, Halifax; granddaughter, Kimberly (Scott) Embleton; great-grandchildren, Davis and Kelsey; son-in-law, Wilfred LeBlanc.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Lively, Virginia Sudds, Helen Pettipas and Katie MacDonald (in infancy); brothers, Jack, Buddy and Wayne.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday from 1-2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., Rev. Paul MacGillivray officiating. Interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
