Oickle, Jean Catherine, age 101, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born on December 28th, 1914, in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Maude (MacLeod) Strachan. Jean was the last surviving member of her family. She was a kind and loving person, and we have been blessed to have her all these years. She will be sadly missed by her loving family. Mom loved to read, she read her Bible daily and she also loved a good book. Her mind was as sharp as a tack until the end. She was very thankful for her home care girls and always looked forward to starting her day with them. Company was always welcome. Jean loved showing off her stuffed toy collection, especially the ones that talked and wiggled about. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. Playing T.V. Bingo was a must on Thursday nights, she enjoyed playing at home on her comfortable chair. In her earlier years, she worked for Mersey Seafoods, going to work at the age of 13 cleaning lobsters. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce; grandchildren, Peter MacLeod (Dennis Wyatt), of British Columbia, Myra (Leslie) Foley, of Lafayette, Louisiana, Katherine MacLeod-Tucker (Barry Tucker), of Coldbrook. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Andrew; son-in-law, Dan MacLeod; sisters, Vera, Marge and Dorothy; brothers, Osborne, Jack, Harris, Clarence and Walter. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Liverpool. A Celebration of Jean’s Life was held at 11:00a.m, on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016, from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool with Reverend Bonnie Baird officiating. Burial was in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Bog Road, Liverpool. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. To share memories or condolences please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com
