MUISE, Joseph Henry – age 95, Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth, formerly of East Street, Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in Veteran’s Place. Born February 3, 1921 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Henry and Irene (Harris) Muise. Joseph was veteran of the second World War, having served with the 14th Field Regiment of the Royal Canadian Army. He was retired from Cosmos Imperial Mill/Dominion Textiles, and in his spare time he helped fund-raise and build Notre Dame Church and Youth Centre, having also coached little league. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. His skill as a baseball player was also recognized when he was inducted as a member of the Yarmouth Town and County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Iris Muise; grandson, Larry Muise; brother-in-law, Fred Moulaison and sisters-in-law, Doris Cann and Adele Robicheau. Aside from his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Mary Mabel (Moulaison) Muise, as well as by a son, Gary Muise; sisters, Emily Saulnier, Betty Moulaison, Rita Doucette, Edgar Muise and George Muise. A graveside service and interment was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 16 at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Grampie Joe was a kind, gentle soul who would share stories and songs, and would reminisce of days gone by with great humour and affection. He loved his extended family unconditionally and took great pleasure in sharing all of their adventures with open arms. We feel so blessed to have had him in our lives. You will always be carried in our hearts.
