She was predeceased by her parents, Loretta (MacLean) and John Allan Smith; husbands, William J. Syms and Cal MacNeil and siblings, Herbie, Maidie Addicott, Arnold, Sheldon and Anne Wood.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Lorne and Neila Smith, Glace Bay; children, Darrell (Laura), Lingan; Michele, Halifax; Dwight, Guelph; Shaun (Denise), Sydney and Scott (Nicole), Halifax; grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Joshua, Benjamin, Molly, Stephen, Thomas and Alianor and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Reserve Mines.
