Passed on: July 15th, 2016

It is with broken hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. On July 15, 2016, Jeremy William Burke passed away peacefully at the young age of 22 alongside his loving family, friends and nurses at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Jeremy was born January 28, 1994 and lived in Cole Harbour, N.S.
Over the last fifteen months, Jeremy fought hard against his battle with cancer together with his mother, Jerri; father, Billy and younger sister, Allison devotedly by his side. Jeremy is also survived by grandmother, Catherine Burke and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by maternal grandmother and grandfather, Georgina and Garfield McNamara and paternal grandfather, Basil Burke.
Jeremy was caring, loving, funny and never failed to spread his infectious smile across all those in his presence. Jeremy was most proud of his younger sister, Allison, and never failed to motivate her to be as strong and determined as he continuously proved to be throughout his fight.
Growing up, Jeremy’s zest for life was demonstrated through his love for playing hockey, lacrosse, soccer, golf, and snowboarding. He valued his travels to Florida and being out on the Mira River, Cape Breton, with family. More than anything, Jeremy loved the time he spent and cherished with his best friends, Brad Burke, Liam Barro, Mike Melvin, Devon Oliver-Dares, Pat Williams and his Lawrencetown friends. His memory will continue to live on.
Visitation for Jeremy will be held Wednesday, July 20, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 21, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow.
Cremation to follow service. Interment to take place at 1p.m. on Friday, July 22, in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeremy’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Nova Scotia or the Burkitt Lymphoma Society.
A special and sincere thank you to the nurses (angels on 8) and medical staff on the Eighth floor of the Victoria General Hospital, who became family and helped Jeremy through his hard fought battle. Your support and kindness will never be forgotten.
