Lola Norine Ross

Ross, Lola Norine, October 21, 1919 – July 19, 2016, passed away peacefully at Elk Court in Brookfield on July 19, 2016.
Norine was born in Truro to the late Graham and Annie (Bartlett) Crowell and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by son, Paul (Barbara) Ross, Kanata; daughter, Pat (Robbie) Miller, East Stewiacke; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ross) Nicholson, Halifax, Kevin (Sarah) Miller, Bedford and Jason (Jeanette) Miller, Truro; great granddaughters, Rebecca, Rachael, Erica and Julia Nicholas and Emma and Mira Miller. Norine was predeceased by husband, Walter; grandson, Jeffrey; brothers, George, Lorne, Graham, Arthur and Merton; sisters, Alice, Elsie, Rita, Clara and special niece, Gladys. Mum was a hairdresser for many years and enjoyed working with people. She was a member of the Brookfield United Church and later First United Church in Truro. She belonged to the Bridge Club in Brookfield and enjoyed bowling twice a week in the Seniors League in Bible Hill until she was well into her 80’s, but she was most happy at the cottage in Brule. She loved the ocean and we all spent many happy days there. Mum was always ready for anything and had a great sense of humour. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Elk Court in Brookfield where Mum lived for the past seven years. She was always treated with kindness, respect and love and was truly grateful for her “girls”. Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 24th at 2 pm in Watson Cemetery, Salmon River. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
