Clifford Earl Nicholson, known as Earl, age 89 of Swift Current (formerly of Morse) passed away June 17th, 2016 at the Prairie Health Care Center in Cabri. A Masonic graveside service was held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Annette Taylor Officiating. Earl is survived by his son Ken, step granddaughter Shivawn (Adam); daughter Nancy Thingelstad (Kim), grandsons Ory (Amy) and Tyson (Kallie). One brother-in-law Earl McMurtry and 2 sisters-in-law Doreen French and Rose Rhodes plus numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was born in Ernfold. He spent his early years on the farm 20 miles south of Ernfold and attended Charlotte School before moving to Morse in 1939. Dad attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1949 from the school of agriculture. In June of 1952, Dorothy and Earl were married. They built their farm 2 miles east of Morse. They actively farmed from 1952-1992. Dad loved his life on the farm, building water dikes and ditches and was continually surveying his land making plans to get the most out of his soil. Dad enjoyed reading, often beside his chair you would find an Encloypedia laying open, as he read both sets of the World Book and Encloypedia Britannica. He enjoyed history, fishing and hunting and was always trying to teach others as he went along. While in Morse, Dad was on the Herbert Morse School Board, a Stewart at the United Church and involved in Boy Scouts. He was a life member of the Morse Elks. Dad joined the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in 1962, being active in both the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star until his health enabled him. In 1967 he joined the Swift Current Shrine Club and belonged to the Clown Patrol, this was a good pairing for dad as he loved to "clown" around. Mom and dad travelled the World extensively, traveling around the World twice plus many trips in their motorhome across Canada and the USA. Donations in Earl's memory can be made to the Morse Cultural and Heritage Association, Box 308, Morse, S0H 3CO. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
