Peacefully at The Mount Continuing Care Community on Saturday, July 23, 2016, Howard Laughlin Ross, beloved husband of Dorothy (Douglas), father of Shirley Vey (Arthur) and Diana Ross (Carl Segee), grandfather of Andrew Vey. Predeceased by parents Ruby and Garfield, brothers Donald, Albert, Lincoln, Charles, Garfield, sister Jean MacKay and survived by brother Earl Ross. Howard left his boyhood home in Roseberry and enlisted in the RCAF in 1947. In the military, he worked as a metals technician and progressed to the rank of Sergeant. The highlight of his military career was his service with NATO in Germany and France during the Cold war. On his retirement in 1970, he returned to Roseberry and started a second career as a farmer which lasted well over 25 years. During that time he also became very involved in community improvement, volunteering with the fire department, with Scouts and as an active church and choir member. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. Visitation from 12:45-1:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment at St. John’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Belfast.
