Jacqueline Marie Anne "Jackie" Arnold

Jacqueline Marie Anne Arnold “Jackie” – Truro, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, surrounded by her family in Williams Country Home, Hilden after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Leopold and Alfreda LeClerc. Jackie is survived by her husband, George “Bud” Arnold; daughter, Michele and son in law Greg Collins, Dartmouth; stepsons, Stephen and Mike; stepdaughter, Janice (Brian) MacDougall; daughter in law, Wendy (Bill) Bennett, Ottawa and her beloved grandson, Joel Downey, Ottawa; sisters, Jeannine (Buck) Pye; Carmelle (the late Billy) Byrne; brothers, Gaston (the late Iris), Jean Paul (Clara), Aurel (the late Jean), Rene (Joyce) as well as many wonderful sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews. She loved them all dearly. Besides her parents, Jackie was predeceased by her first husband, WO Bernie Downey; son, Dana Downey; beloved grandson, Andrew Downey; brother, Leo; aunt, Eva.

Jackie loved to share stories of growing up in Halifax where she met many lifetime friends, especially Barb Lowe. There were many memories shared of working at Moirs Chocolate Factory in the 1950’s. Memories of moving to Albro Lake where she met her first husband as well as stories of their life as a military family. Onto a new chapter upon marrying Bud - his wonderful children and family shared so many good times with her. Jackie was brave and strong. She was so fortunate to have Bud’s love, care and the wonderful times they had together gave her so much peace and comfort.
We have so many people to thank for Mom’s care. We wish to thank the Cancer Care Team in Halifax, the Palliative Care team of doctors and nurses at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre and especially to Donna Harvey of Williams Country Home for her compassion, guidance and making her feel at home; Family, friends, co-workers, neighbours... the list goes on. We are so grateful for your love and support.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service in Celebration and Thanksgiving for Jackie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 2pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A Reception will follow. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hope for Wildlife Society, 5909 Hwy 207, Seaforth, NS B0J 1N0.
