Charles Joseph Morris 71, passed away surrounded by love, prayers and support on Monday, August 1, 2016 at his home in Eskasoni. It is comforting to know that his suffering has been replaced with eternal happiness. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Edward and Nancy (Sylliboy) Morris. Charlie devoted his life to Holy Family parish where he was a member, he helped to maintain the lights on Cross Mountain and he was a great friend to Fr. Martin and a cursullista. He was a man of many trades but will be best remembered as being a successful business owner of the Eskasoni Trading Post. He had an excellent work ethic and passed it on to his children as well as his employees over the years. Charlie took great pride in his community and supported many worthwhile causes and events. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his kind smile and helpful nature. He loved boating, camping, attending festivals, concerts, travelling the world and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dogs, Sam and Tiny Baby. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 35 years.
Charles is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Pauline (Paul); daughters, Valerie Morris, Beverly (Billy) Stevens, Natalie (Chief Leroy) Denny, Angela (Dion) Denny; sons, Peter (Alana) Denny, Terry Morris; sisters, Janet (David) Millet, Mabel Morris, Vera Sylliboy, Arlene (Howard Jr.) Johnson; brothers, Adrien (Madeline) Morris, George Morris, James (Shirley) Morris, Darrell Morris; grandchildren, Whitney, Harley, Jordan, Jaden, Marley, William, Lenita, Bethany, Morris, Josephine, Jenna, Arianna, Mackenzie, Peter Jr., Shara, Cody; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Anita and brother, Edmund.
Visitation for the late Mr. Morris will begin after 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
