Gerald JOLLYMORE

JOLLYMORE, Gerald J.
Pictou
Gerald James Jollymore - Age 80, Maritime Oddfellows Home, formerly of Faulkland St., Pictou. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dad passed away peacefully after braving the challenges of Alzheimer’s Disease. Gerald was a lifelong resident of Pictou. Born July 6, 1936 to Victoria (Dalton) and Tom Jollymore, he attended Sir William Dawson and Patterson Schools, and was also a member of the Pictou Highlanders. He trained as a pipefitter in the late 1960’s and was employed by Pictou Industries and formerly Ferguson Industries for many years. He was also worked at the Halifax Shipyard and in Alberta. Gerald was fondly known to many as “Two Inch” a name he proudly displayed on his license plate. He had a great sense of humour and loved to share a story and a joke. In his younger years he enjoyed a good game of cards or pool. He also enjoyed Harness Racing with his buddies, historical reading and going for drives. He was very fond of children and animals, and could be seen daily, over the years, walking one of his four legged friends, Sam, Jake or Lucky, who gave him great joy. Dad had a smile that would light up a room and a generous heart. We loved him beyond words, he was our Hero. The family would like to thank the staff of East Cumberland Lodge, Glen Haven Manor and the Maritime Oddfellows Home for the care Dad received in his final years. Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his brother, Tom; sister, Mary; step-brother, Alton Welsh; several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Doris (Doiron); children, Mary Anne (Lance) Bohaker, Halifax; James, Cold Lake, Alberta; Lisa (Dale Smith) Pictou; Tom, Scotch Hill; Brenda, Pictou; Ada (Tony)Van Veld, Lyon’s Brook; grandchildren, Brian Scotland, Hinton Alberta; Peter La Rade, Josh Sarson, Carly and Lauren Smith and Jake Dunnewold, Pictou; great-grandchild, Noah LaRade-MacDonald.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 11 AM Friday August 5, 2016 in the McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou. The family will receive visitors Thursday, August 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, also in the McLaren Funeral Home. Donations in his memory may be made to any chapter of the SPCA, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.
Your Memory Will Live On in Our Hearts
