At 11:44 PM on July 20, 2016 Ellen Margaret Hillstrom was gently placed into the arms of the Lord after her battle with returning cancer. She passed at home surrounded by loving family which was her wish. Ellen was predeceased by her loving husband Stanley on September 15, 1999, her parents Carl Johan and Maria Augusta Joelson of Deer Ridge, SK, seven brothers Sigfred and Earl Sandberg, Elmer, Levi, Melvin, Roy and Robert Joelson. Ellen is survived by her sister Eunice Watts and family of The Pas, three loving children Maxine (Roger) Fedoruk of Wakaw, SK, Marjorie (John) Tippett of Melfort, SK, and Verle Hillstrom of Edmonton, AB. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was being involved with as many family members whenever and wherever possible. As her health failed, she was surrounded by many of her family and friends. Ellen’s 92 years were filled with so much love from this extended family it was unbelievable. Many people commented that they had never seen so much love shared by one person, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a true friend to so many more. She will be sadly missed by all. Her interment and memorial service will be held at the South Hill Cemetery in Prince Albert on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dave MacPherson officiating. She will be at rest with her late husband Stanley Edwin and his parents Elizabeth and Albert Hillstrom. Following the interment, there will be a celebration of Ellen’s life to be held from 1 to 5 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 101 McLeod Avenue East in Melfort where a lunch will be served.
