It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert, age 78 of Hilden, Nova Scotia, on Aug. 2, 2016. Born on August 14, 1937 in New Glasgow, N.S., he was the son of late Leslie and Mildred Lumsden of Trenton, N.S. Robert retired 22 years ago from Zellers/HBC as Director of Loss Prevention. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past president of the Hilden Garden Club, former volunteer and one of the founding Board of Directors with Hospice. This was something dear to his heart. He loved his Pittsburgh Penguins and never missed a Crosby game. Robert loved Disney World and visited there often. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maureen Lumsden, daughter Debbie (Dave) Uloth, daughter Leslie (Bruce) MacKendrick, daughter Trish (Aaron) Gavel, and sister Ida MacKay. Grandchildren Andrew (Jen) Uloth, Jillian Uloth, Kaitlin (Chris) Noye, Mallory Gallant, Jake Rains, and Alexis Rains. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ernest and Leonard Lumsden, and nephew Ernest MacKay. The family would like to thank Dr. Henderson, Lisa Weatherbee, the VON, EHS paramedics, and the staff of the CEHHC for their excellent care. No Visitation by family request. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, from where a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 8th at 2pm. Rev. Ian Harrison will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date.
