Vera Mae Astleford, aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Thursday, August 4th, 2016. Vera was born on November 16th, 1926 at Bateman, SK. She was raised on the homestead and attended school at Bateman. Vera then went on to attend Nursing School in Moose Jaw, graduating in 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She met Bob and they were married on March 31st, 1951. Vera became a farmer’s wife, driving trucks, milking cows, and growing a garden. She was very involved in the Tuxford Community. Vera was a life-long caregiver, both personally and professionally. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob; daughter, Lee Anne; sister, Irene; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Vera will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Laura Arnold (John); grandson, BJ (Meredith) and their children Oliver and Gabe; granddaughter, Jillian (Brent) and their son Callum; son, Jack (Heather) Astleford; grandchildren: Tyler (Andrea), Carter and Jared; son-in-law, Dale Helland; grandson, Jake; sister, Fran Humphrey; as well as several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
