Donald Hugh Lindsay

Lindsay, Donald Hugh– Age 76, East Stewiacke, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2016, at home, surrounded by family. Born in East Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Hugh and Ella (Conroy) Lindsay.

Surviving are son, Stephen (Edwina), Truro; Susan (Kevin), Lake Echo; Sheryl (Terry), Middle Musquodoboit; sisters, Barb Crawford, New Glasgow, Leona (Jack) Murphy, Truro, Erma Fraser, Bridgewater; sister-in-law, Josephine Lindsay, Oshawa.

Dad was an electrician by trade and spent many years at Gil-Son Construction in Halifax where he made lifelong friends. Dad enjoyed hunting at the camp, attending the bluegrass festival, hockey games, and especially the Montreal Canadiens. The happiest times in his life were spent with his grandchildren, Chris (Kelsey), Kaleigh (Tim), Lindsay, Kenneth, Kendra (Justin), Nick (Keely), Alisha and Chloe, as well as close friend and nephew, Danny (Sandra) Chaplin. Dad was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn (O’Brien); brother, Doug; sister, Marion Chaplin.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. Family would like to send a very special thank you to Linda and Paul Levandier, Paul MacDonald, Lloyd and Sandra MacPhee for all your support and friendship. A special thank you to Dr. R. Kepkay of Elmsdale Medical Centre, the nurses of 4th floor medical day unit of the VG Hospital, especially Darryn, VON and Palliative Care Team, as well as Dawn Ross.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, all at his home, 2883 Alton Road, East Stewiacke. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Truro Junior ‘A’ Bearcats, or a charity of choice.
