NEW GLASGOW – James Arthur “Jimmy” Dean, 72, New Glasgow, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late William Dean and Margaret (Forrestall) (Dean) Spanks.
Jimmy was a flooring installer since the age of 18, having been employed in Toronto and locally for over 40 years. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow.
Jimmy as an avid golfer and instilled a love for the sport in his sons. He enjoyed playing cards, darts and taking long drives in his car.
Jimmy was affectionately called “number one…” by his wife and children, “crazy papa” by his grandchildren and “papa crazy” by his great-granddaughters.
Surviving are his wife, Kareen; daughter, Donna, Mississauga, Ont.; sons, Arthur (Stephanie), Trenton; James, New Glasgow; Dennis (Marie), Donnie, Toronto, Ont.; Scott, New Glasgow; Kurl (Claudette), Bowmansville, Ont.; sister, Nancy, New Glasgow; brothers, Barry, New Glasgow; Gary, Trenton; David, Westville; Kenny (Heather), Sydney Australia; William, Toronto; grandchildren, Arthur, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Amanda, Taylor, Robyn, Josh, Jessie, Jenna, Jared, Ryleigh, Mindy and Raymond; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Dennis and Billy; step-father, James.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where the funeral service, along with Royal Canadian Legion Tribute service, will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel.

Donations may be made in Jimmy’s memory to Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
