Passed on: August 8th, 2016

David Philip “Shorty” HRYHOR
November 8, 1942 – August 8, 2016
Shorty passed away suddenly and peacefully at his “happy place” at Sunset Bay Resort in Emma Lake doing what he loved to do – read and sleep!! Shorty was born to Bill and Regina Hryhor on November 8, 1942 in Geraldton, Ontario. He grew up in Weirdale/Meath Park then moved with his family to Prince Albert attending Princess Margaret and Riverside Schools. Shorty LOVED to play ball – softball, baseball, and slo-pitch playing until three years ago in Palm Springs with his “chum” Brian Cowan. After he hung up his cleats he took immense pleasure in watching his grandsons (Kobe & Chace) play and couldn’t wait until he could teach his ‘hulk’ Hutch to play. Shorty worked at the Prince Albert Pulp Mill and Miller Men’s Wear and then made his home for many years with his second family Ted Matheson Men’s Wear. After the birth of his children, Shannon and David, he moved to Rawlco Radio as an advertising salesman and Sales Manager. After his retirement in 2007 he spent his days reading, snoozin’, golfing, walking and loving life. He went back to Ted Matheson Men’s Wear “part-time”. He always looked forward to May so he could get up to the lake and spend his days “putzing and making up projects” to fill his days. He then began “working” at the Emma Lake Golf Course marshalling and cutting grass…he loved being out on the tractor at 5 a.m. all alone, then stopping for a visit with all his new chums at the golf course. Shorty is survived by his wife of 33 years Lois (nee Headrick) Hryhor; his son David (Camey) and their children Kobe and Chace; his daughter Shannon (Erik) Parenteau and their son Hutch; two brothers – Bill of Vancouver and Donald (Theresa); brothers-in-law – Neil (Sheila) Headrick and Barry (Debbie) Headrick and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews that he loved to tease and make fun of till they would “kick him off the island”…..!!!!! He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Regina and his mother and father-in-law Olga and Stewart Headrick. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at St Alban’s Cathedral, 1410 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK with the Reverend Dr. Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Private Family Interment will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
