It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Martin Allan Evans, age 67, husband, father and brother, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney on September 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles and Melida (Green) Evans. Martin worked in the engine room on the Marine Atlantic vessels until his retirement. He also drove a taxi with Briand and City Wide in Sydney for many years. Martin had a passion for both cruise ships and Marine Atlantic boats. He is survived by his wife, Norma (McCormack) Evans, Sydney and one son, Jamie, New Waterford; his sister, Liz Evans, North Sydney; two brothers, Levi (Jackie), Georges River and Clarence, Truro. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside committal will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
