Wes, Sheree Oman

Passed on: July 24th, 2016

Leslie and Sharee Oman: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Les, age 58, and Sharee, age 56, on Sunday morning, July 24, 2016, near Kansas City, Missouri, while on their way to Florida. They both grew up in Swift Current and graduated from the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. They married in 1980 and settled in a house they built on the south side, near Riverside Park. Sharee worked at the Pioneer Co-op in accounting and Les worked at the Coke plant. Their first child, Damien, was born in 1984, and their second child, Devon, was born in 1989. Sharee stayed home to raise their family and went back to work at the Co-op after their sons were old enough and then worked at Safeway for years before working again at the Co-op until she retired. Les worked at Wiebe's Contracting and Delta Rock and Sand after the Coke plant closed, retiring a few years before Sharee. Both loved to travel and had booked another trip to the Maritimes at the end of August. They had travelled to New York, Toronto, Jamaica, Hawaii, taken cruises and had vacationed and taken in car races everywhere around the United States. They travelled often to B.C. and were scouting out places to live; they were planning to retire there eventually. Les and Sharee loved animals and had several dogs and cats over the years, and were big supporters of the S.P.C.A. They lived vicariously through their grand dogs and could be seen walking them every day. They loved music at many venues and travelled all over the country to listen to their favourite rock and roll and country bands. They were regulars at Lucky Charlie's for karaoke on Thursday evenings and, if there was a good band at the Casino, Big Eye, or the York, they were in the crowd. If good friends Arlene and Dave from the group Zanzee were in town, they were there for sure with as many friends as they could gather. They were avid walkers and you could see them each and every day going somewhere. They had regular coffee times at Tim Hortons and it was like clockwork with another crowd they grew to know. Les loved cars, motorcycles and racing. If you checked his garage, he was there puttering. Sharee loved reading and if there was a mystery novel out there she had read it. She also took pride in a very clean house and it was always immaculate. If she wasn't inside cleaning, she was outside washing windows, cleaning the siding or just getting dirt off the driveway. Les and Sharee had beautiful hearts and would do absolutely anything for anybody. They cared deeply about others' lives and always wanted to know everyone was o.k. Les and Sharee are survived by their sons; Damien, his ex-wife, Erin Mullin and grandchildren, Daron and Anna, and Devon and their grand dogs, Cujo, Teddybear and Cash; Les's sister, Sharon Braun and good friend and ex-brother-in-law, Larry Braun, nieces, Tami (Merv) Thompson, Tracy (Michael) Carolon and Brandy (Trevor) Schnell; Les's brother, Wes Oman and good friend and ex-sister-in-law, Lori Oman, nieces, Tamara Oman, Kendra (Cody) Kendall and nephew, Coburn Oman; various great-nieces and nephews; and Sharee's great-aunt, Tereasa Ditosto and sister-in-law, Marion Johnston. Les and Sharee were predeceased by Les's mother and father, Gordon Oman in 2012 and Inez Oman in 2008; Sharee's mother and father, Kenneth Johnston in 2002 and Bertha Johnston in 2008; and Sharee's half brothers, Ken Johnston and David Johnston (Diane) and half sister, Ciel Clark (James). Donations in Les and Sharee's memory may be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A. P.O. Box 1163 Swift Current, SK S9H 3X3. There was a Celebration of Life held for Les and Sharee at their home on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Warren's Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
