Frances McGRATH

McGRATH, B. Frances (Munroe)
Pictou

On Aug. 13, 2016, Frances McGrath left this world as she walked through it - full of faith and expecting to see Jesus.
Francie was born in Pictou on Dec. 17, 1944 and raised on Pictou Island. She loved to return home for visits every summer with her family. Beach combing with grandchildren, visiting with relatives, and playing music were always on the docket.
Francie was a passionate Christian, a generous neighbour, an amazing musician, and the most loving mother to Stephanie, Sherri and Shawn. Francie’s long time career as an LPN concluded at the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital – Northumberland Veteran‘s Unit, where she was known as ‘the singing nurse’ to the residents, and ‘one of their finest’ to her co-workers.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Stephanie McGrath–Basit (Abdul Basit), Sherri MacInnis (Donnie Dooley), Shawn McGrath (Erin Henderson); grandchildren, Martin McGrath (Stephanie); Nolan, Grace and Laila (Sherri); her sister and best friend, Beth Knock (Jonathan); cousin and neighbour, Donald Livingstone; her sister-in-law, Darlene Munroe; her nephews, Troy Rankin, Nick Munroe, Colin and Luke Knock; and her Church family at Christian Fellowship Church.
Francie was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ida Munroe; her sister, Shirley Rankin; her brother, Sandy Munroe and niece, Tammy Rankin.
Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday from Christian Fellowship Church, Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
