It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helena Anna Byrne, on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 89. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Mary Ellen Byrne (Stephen Dow), James Byrne (Dave Bennett), Lee Ann O'Reilly (Mike), Karla Sawicki (Michael); grandchildren: Timothy, Erin, Vanessa, Savanah, Madison; great-grandchildren: Julian, Maddie, Alys and Noah; brother Donny (Shirley) Middlestadt; sister Bea Horricks; and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband James Byrne, May 31, 2015, parents Arthur and Helena Middlestadt, sister Eileen (Don) Armstrong, brother Verner (Vicki) Armstrong, brother-in-law Bob Horricks. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 15th, 2016 at 10:30 am from the Cathedral of The Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Ave with Father Andrew White officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Helena was a passionate artist, well known and respected for her beautiful landscapes and scenes of Newfoundland and Labrador.
