It is with great sadness that the family of the late Frederick Colbourne announce his passing on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 60 years Maureen (nee Burton); children: Fred (Aune), Barry (Joan) and Lisa (Roger) Miller; grandchildren: Melanie (Andrew) Stokes, Carla (Richard) Hinwood, Amy Colbourne (Riley), Vicki (Andrew) Young, Laura Miller (Tim) and Andrew Miller; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Ethan Stokes, Benjamin Kayser, Michael Hinwood and Mason Young; brother, Lloyd (Evelyn) Colbourne; sisters: Alma Waugh and Marjorie Fields; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Colbourne, Lloyd (Shirley) Burton, Pete (Dianne) Burton, Roy (Bonnie) Burton, Bruce (Doreen) Burton, and Wayne (Bev) Burton; as well as large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Emily Colbourne; brother Aubrey Colbourne; sisters: Betty Saputo, Ruby Shelly; mother and father-in-law: Peter and Emma Burton; brother-in-law Bob Burton and sister-in-law Yvonne Parks. Fred was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature and the Newfoundland wilderness with his family and Maureen, the love of his life! Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Monday, August 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 11 a.m. from the First United Church, Park Street with Reverend Jocelyn Cooke officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.
