Edith Evelene Schofield, 68, of Brookside Rd. Halifax, N. S., passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, following a two year fight against cancer. Born in Sydney, N. S., on March 31, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Robello) Morrison of Sydney, N. S.
Edith was a graduate of Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1970. Her early career was spent nursing in various hospitals in Halifax. In 1978, she married Lloyd Arthur Schofield. Edith was the loving mother of two children, Chad Andrew Schofield and Adrienne Olivia Schofield (Ying), who both reside in Toronto, Ont. She enjoyed her many pets, whose care and well-being took priority over almost everything else. Edith also enjoyed doing her part to boost the economy by making frequent visits to local clothing and jewelry stores. She enjoyed a good laugh, a good prank and her sports cars.
Edith is survived by her brothers, Alexander (Wendy) Morrison, John (Sandra) Morrison and Edgar (the late Debbie) Morrison; sisters, Rose Morrison (Jim Elison) and Jean (Wayne) Harriss. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 17 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River on Thursday, August 18, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Edith may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
