ENTWISTLE, John Francis- age 92 of Enfield, NS, passed away peacefully in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, NS on August 15, 2016. Born in Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex, England, John was the only son of the late Frank and Constance Kate (Carter) Entwistle. A Navigator in The Royal Air Force during WWII, John was decorated by King George VI. In 1948 John emigrated to Canada and from 1951 to 1982 served as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the passing of his wife in 2001, John got involved with East Hants Crime Prevention volunteering with Citizens on Patrol, East Hants Addictions Awareness Committee, Safe Seniors at Home and East Hants Emergency Response Association. John was also a member of the Montgomery Branch 133, Royal Canadian Legion in Enfield. John is survived by his daughter, Joanne, Enfield and son Robert (Cathy), Bible Hill. He was predeceased by his wife, Nina Mae (Roode) and his sister, Gillian Constance Hayes.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held 2pm Friday, September 2, 2016 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie, NS, Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. John will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in the Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VON Colchester East Hants District.
