The family of the late Edward (Gus) O’Leary would like to express our sincere thanks to our family, friends and neighbours for their kindness and support during our father’s illness. Dad passed away on January 24. We said our final farewell to a special person on Saturday, July 9th when he was laid to rest at Holy Family St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Glace Bay. Thank you to all those who visited the funeral home, attended the funeral mass, phoned, sent cards, flowers, food, memorial donations, online condolences and prayers. We wish to thank Father Daniel Boudreau for the beautiful funeral mass. Sincere thanks to the choir of St Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines for the beautiful songs and the CWL for the lovely lunch provided after the mass. Special thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 3 for being such an important part of Dad’s life and for your contribution in honoring him at his funeral. Thank you also to Tyler Campbell for the Last Post and Reveille. This was very important to Dad. Special thanks to the grandchildren who were pallbearers, delivered the readings, and participated in bringing the gifts to the altar-Stacie, Brendan, Matt and Garett. Grandpa would be so proud. Thank you to grandson, Brendan Kane (Calgary), for spending countless hours preparing a video tribute of Dad’s life. We are so grateful that you captured these special moments for us to have as a keepsake. Words cannot express our heartfelt thanks to Abe and Grace White for not only participating in Dad’s funeral mass but for the many years they have helped our family take care of both Mom and Dad. Although it is impossible to thank everyone individually, who was involved in Dad’s medical care, please be assured that every gesture of kindness and care he received during his illness will always be remembered. Finally, our thanks to Kenny Mc Gillivrary and the staff of V.J. Mc Gillivray’s Funeral Home, along with Elaine Haighway for the graveside prayers. Your guidance, compassion and professionalism was greatly appreciated.
