Catherine Marie Fagan (Woodrow)

Passed peacefully away on August 22, 2016, following a battle with cancer at the age of 73. Leaving with fond and cherished memories are her loving daughter Jackie (Barry); sisters Lucy Stoyles (Reg), Monica Choong (David), Ann Jenner, Brothers Michael Woodrow, John Woodrow (Bernice), Bernard Woodrow (Carol); Sisters in Law Imelda English (Adrian), Bernadette Lee (Gerald), Mary Comerford (Steve), Colleen James (Garry), Brothers in Law Pat Fagan (Paulette),Gabe Fagan (Mary), Special Cousin Ann Greene (Harold), many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Also leaving with fond memories special friends in John's Beach, Bay of Islands Isabelle and Howard Parsons and Doreen Dennis, as well as her friends and Sisters in the Catholic Women's League. Predeceased by her husband Gus, parents Jeremiah and Ethel Woodrow, Aunt Sr Monica Woodrow, brother Richard, sister Theresa, Father and Mother in Law James and Hannah Fagan, Sisters in Law Helen Gibbons and Monica Fleming and Brother in Law Eddie Fagan. Catherine loved to travel and had taken trips to various pilgrimage sites around the world as well as many trips with her daughter. No doubt she was seen by everyone during her walking throughout the city. Catherine was a very dedicated member of the Mary Queen of the World Parish for the last 43 years; involved in many ministries including the Bereavement Team, Bringing Holy Communion to the Sick and Shut Ins, Family Catechetics and Parish Pastoral Council. She was involved with the Catholic Women's League for the past 38 years serving as Parish President for 5 terms and Provincial President for a two year term. Catherine's career included over 30 years in Healthcare in practical nursing and as a Social Services Worker with the General Hospital. During her lifetime Catherine received many awards including Life Membership with the Catholic Women's League, Mount Pearl Citizen of the Year, Honorary Director NL Pensioners Association and most recently a 100th Anniversary of Beaumont Hamel Local Hero Commemorative award. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave, Mount Pearl on Tuesday, August 23rd, from 6-9 pm; and on Wednesday, August 24th, from 1-4 pm, and from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at Mary Queen of the World, Topsail Rd, Mount Pearl on Thursday, August 25th, at 10:30 am, with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Gathering Place or Mary Queen of the World Syrian Family Refugee Fund.
