Audrey Forrest

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Audrey Eileen Forrest, 89, of Sydney Mines.
Eileen was a very special lady to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As a retired school teacher, children always held a special place in her heart. She was a great mentor to many children and they adored her, as much as she did them.
Eileen lived a life of love and kindness and devoted much of her life to caring for others. Her motto in life was ‘people always come first’ and she truly lived by this. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and always saw the positive side of things. However, she also had a very stubborn streak, which she was quite proud of!
She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Freda (Pearo) Forrest, as well as her brother and best friend, Gordon, better known as ‘Friendly’.
She is survived by the pride and joy of her life Grace Raylene (MacFarlane) Jones and her four daughters, Wendy (Glen) Baker, Melanie (Bernie) Tobin, Heather (James) Tucker and Lindsay (Dave) MacLeod and the absolute delights of her life, Brayden, Alex, Matthew, Brett, Hailey, Ryan, Sarah, Jacob and Ben. She is also survived by many cousins and good friends and her dear friend Mary Arsenault.
Eileen will be missed by many, but will forever be remembered for her bright smile, hearty laugh, her generous heart and her overall love of life and we can’t forget her delicious homemade bread!
Eileen was strong in her faith and is now at home rejoicing!
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Marion Barclay-MacKay officiating. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church General Fund, Carman United Church Furnace Fund or a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences can be made by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
