It is with heavy hearts that the families of Alice Jean Goobie nee Hancock announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, in Corner Brook, NL, on Monday, August 22nd, 2016, at the age of 83 year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Barbara (Barry) Nichols, Randy (Sharon) Goobie, Lester (Doreen) Goobie, Linda Goobie, and Tony (Sandra) Goobie, her very special granddaughter Barbie (Andrew), her grandchildren Kent (Taryn) Nichols, Krista (Graydon) Rodgers, Dean (Carolyn) Goobie, Bonnie (Cullin) MaCaskill, David Masters, Kirk (Michelle) Goobie, Leslie O'Neil (Shannon), Penny (Dermon) Piercey Vanessa (Greg) Rumbolt and Allie Goobie (Scott), her 19 great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchild Connor, her siblings Viola and Clayton Hewlett and Alex Hancock (Amy), brothers-in-law Norman Legge, Bill Norris and Leo Clarke, sisters-in-law Alice Goodyear and Lyla Hancock, also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. Jean was predeceased by her husband Roland, her parents Phoebe and Alex Hancock, parents-in-law Annie and Abraham Goobie, her siblings Lillian Legge, Hersy Clarke and Clouston Hancock, sister-in-law Gladys Hancock, her in-laws Mabel Harris (Dorman), Edna Norris, Beatrice Cholerton (Sam), Flora Norris (Tom), Eldred Goobie (Kay), Liza Hussey (Gordon), Wesley Goobie (Pricilla), Wilson Goodyear and Selina Goobie. The family will be receiving family and friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL, on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016, from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 25th, 2016, at 2 pm at St. Paul's United Church on Spruce St, Deer Lake, NL, with Rev. Myles Vardy officiating with the burial to follow at the family plot of The Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery on Wight's Road, Deer Lake, NL. Flowers and/or donations can be made to St. Paul's United Church, Spruce Street, Deer Lake, NL, in Jean's memory would be graciously appreciated by the family.
