MacDonald, Anna Cecelia, 96 of Thorburn, passed away peacefully August 26, 2016 at home.
Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Ella (MacDonald) Ryan.
Anna was a generous soul who was devoted to her family, friends and her church. She was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Thorburn and the CWL. She was affectionately known to many as Nannie.
She is survived by sisters Elizabeth ”Betty” Jones, Stellarton; Joan Dyer, Massachusetts; a son Michael (Judy) MacDonald, B.C.; daughter Ellen (Bob) Peters, Lismore; son Damien, Thorburn; son Gregory (Margie) MacDonald, Thorburn; daughter-in-law Ann MacDonald, 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband John MacDonald, a son Gerald, grandsons Paul and Mark MacDonald and Conor Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Burial will take place at St. Ann’s Parish Cemetery, Thorburn.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Anna may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada.
