OXNER, Lillian Irma- age 80, of Yarmouth. N.S. passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side at the Yarmouth Hospital on August 27th, 2016. She was the eldest daughter of the late Edgar and Margaret (Farquhar) Hatfield of Pleasant Lake. Irma was a long time active member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church and the Hospital Auxiliary. She worked over the years at the Grand Hotel, Mermaid Hotel, Tidal View Manor and with Marine Atlantic. She was an avid reader and loved to knit and sew and volunteered at the Yarmouth County Museum. She loved to paint and had an artistic flair. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and loved her house plants. She was a loyal friend to many and a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Nora) Oxner and son Ronald (Lorraine) Oxner; grandchildren Melissa (Oxner) Robinson, Tom and Evan Oxner, Jason, Jeremy and Jeffrey Clairmont, Sarah and Rachel Biggar; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Edgar and Glen Hatfield, sisters Lorna Baskette, Peggy Crosby and Bonnie Hurlburt. She was predeceased by her daughter Sandy Clairmont, brothers Arnold and Richard Hatfield and husbands Kenneth Oxner and Gerry Pippy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Thursday, September 1st, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Sweenys Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Friday September 2nd 2016 at 2 p.m., Rev. Helen Chandler officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
