Linda Facey

Linda L. Facey
It is with profound sadness that the family of Linda Facey announces her passing on the 31 August, 2016, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow 3 Nov. 1952, Linda was the daughter of Clyde and Audrey (Brown) Facey. She was a much loved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a member of the United Church of Canada.
Linda began her education in Stellarton schools and graduated from Judique High School. She went on to graduate from St. Francis Xavier University with her Arts and Education degrees. Her teaching career took her to Westville; New Brunswick; Saskatchewan; and to Slave Lake, Alberta where she spent the majority of her years. Among her colleagues she was known for her professionalism, dedication, sense of humour and as a fearless champion for the needs and rights of all students. Much of her time was given to the development of special needs students whom she loved unconditionally and who returned that love.
When her teaching career ended, she returned to Pictou County to reside with family in Westville. Here she volunteered her time with the Shepherd’s Lunch Room and activities at Green Hill-Alma United Church.
Known to family and friends as “ the Wee One” in reference to her physical stature, Linda always put others before herself. She loved all things Scottish and holidays, with Christmas being her all time favourite.
Linda was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Colin Wayne in infancy, and her sister, Nancy.
She was a devoted and loving sister to her brothers, Sandy, Pictou; S. Charles (Heather), Westville; and Barry (Helena), Bridgewater.
Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank her close and loyal friends: Marilyn ‘Hedges”, Antigonish, Karen and Vivian in Alberta, as well as her Doucet nieces and nephews who brought such joy to her life.
As per her wishes, there will be no service or visitation. A private burial will take place at Riverton Cemetery, under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Linda’s life at the Alma Fire Hall, Alma on Wed. Sept. 7th from 2-4 pm.
You are asked to wear something red and your favourite shoes.
No flowers by request but donations may be made to Green Hill-Alma United Church; The Shepherd’s Lunch Room or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Linda’s memory.
