It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Brenda Mary O'Quinn, of Truro, NS, (originally from North Sydney, NS), daughter of Peter and Theresa O'Quinn, of North Sydney. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving and devoted family, on August 30, 2016 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in North Sydney and followed her heart to Truro, where she lived happily, working at the Truro Superstore, for the last 20 years.
Brenda is survived by her partner, Murray Hall, daughter Shelley (Steven Campbell), South Bar, son Damian (Paula Gracie), North Sydney, and brothers David (Patsy), Leonard (Diane), Ontario, Arthur, Tony (Alena), Tim (Sherry), Saskatchewan, and Teddy (Stephanie). She will also be sadly missed by her 6 grandchildren, Anastasia, Robyn, Mitchell, Lawson, Maria and Liam, who meant the world to her, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Theresa, brothers Hugh and Patrick, sister Patricia, and grandson Corey.
Brenda was the light in every room she entered, always entertaining everyone with her quick wit and sense of humour. She touched the lives of everyone she met, and would be the first person to lend a helping hand to a stranger in need. She had a fierce love for her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. She was devoted to Murray, and would tell people that she had found her soulmate and one true love. Her sense of humour remained with her, even when she became sick. Even at the worst times, she kept the mood light and her jokes helped pick us up when we felt down.
A huge thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, who treated Brenda like a queen and ensured that she was able to leave this world in comfort and with dignity.
Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life Visitation being held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro on Monday, September 5, 2016, from 6-8 pm. A funeral will be held at a later date at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Brenda's name to the Palliative Care Unit at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts that may never heal.
