Michel Leclerc

LECLERC, J. Michel J-R.
Suddenly, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, Michel passed away, at his home in Kingston, Ont. at age 83.
Michel was pre-deceased by Lillian, his loving wife of 50 years.
He will be sadly missed by his children Suzanne Moore (Craig), Jean-Marc (Deborah), and Denise Leclerc Gow; by his grandchildren Justin, Alexandra, Sean, Jessica (Tyler), Erin, Emily, and Isabella; and by his great-granddaughter Adalyn.
Michel was born in St. Romuald, Quebec on July 7, 1933. He was the son of Oscar Leclerc and Emma Tousignant. He grew up in Quebec City.
Michel joined the military at the age of 18 and had a rewarding and successful 34 year military career followed by many dedicated years in the public service.
He was an enthusiastic and accomplished athlete and consummate sports fan. Michel became ‘Mike’ after meeting the lovely, but Anglophone, Lillian (Martell) while on a posting in Nova Scotia. They were married in 1962, before being posted with the Royal Canadian Air Force to Marville, France, where they started their family. His children have fond memories of their life growing-up as ‘base brats’, and tremendous pride in their father.
In keeping with Michel’s wishes, cremation will be followed by a Funeral Mass in St. James Chapel located within St. Mary’s Cathedral in Kingston, Ont. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal Prayers will be said at the Beechwood Military Cemetery in Ottawa, Ont. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Arrangements Entrusted to the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes Central Chapel 613.546.5454
